Job Description
KRI is looking for a talented Electrical Engineer who will design and support power supplies and controllers. The position focuses on electronic design utilizing both digital/analog, and high voltage (1500V). This position includes design of printed circuit boards (PCB) using Cadsoft Eagle and programming in VHDL. C++ and Python Software/firmware knowledge would be a plus. The position requires mechanical and electrical ability to troubleshoot and repair product returned from the field.

- Pay Range is $65k - $85k for up to 5 years of experience, more experienced engineers may have a higher pay range.

Primary Responsibilities
- Wear all Engineering Hats and learn with the help of your team:
- Circuit Design – Create new designs or modify current designs.
- PCB Layout – Create new PCBs or modify existing PCBs with Cadsoft Eagle.
- PCB Assembly – Use Pick-and-Place machinery for mounting SMT components and soldering through-hole components onto PCBs.
- PCB Testing – Using tools such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, and programs to test PCBs and diagnose issues.
- Code Development – Design and modify power supply code using VHDL or Verilog.
- Power Supply Chassis Design – Create new or modify existing power supply chassis using AutoCAD for products. Assembling chassis for design verification.
- Component Selection and Replacements – Finding and ordering components based on specifications. Finding suitable replacements for components that become obsolete or unavailable.
- Power Magnetics design for high frequency switch-mode supplies (Inductors and Transformers).
- Ability to Develop tools with Python or C++ is a plus.
- Develop test procedures and fixtures for production testing.
- Test product design to work out bugs.
- Troubleshoot field failures.
- Find solutions with suppliers on production failures and quality issues
- Design and draft new mechanical parts for the product or required fixtures for making and testing the product.
- Provide Customer Service to customers - troubleshoot and repair field failures and help the customer with product questions.
- Create and Maintain documentation for building and supporting new and existing products: manuals, BOMs, test procedures, drawings, and write ECOs.
- Apply IEC61010 safety standard, CE Product requirements to KRI products – low voltage directive, radiated and conduced emissions and immunity requirements, perform safety testing, take products to EMC test labs and be able to troubleshoot compliance issues and make appropriate changes.
- Provide purchasing build schedule so that parts can be purchased in time for production.
- Support product - help troubleshoot production issues.
Position Requirements
- Engineering Degree – Preferably with a focus in Power Electronics and/or RF design.
- An interest and desire to learn more about Power Electronics design.
- Basic software programming skills.
- Troubleshooting ability – both electrical and mechanical.
- Ability to communicate with customers in a professional manner.
- MS Office, Cadsoft Eagle (PCB design), AutoCAD, VHDL, Python.
- Proficient with DMM, Oscope, thermal camera, Data Acquisition equipment, hand tools.
